Maher Akbik founded Akbik Trading in Damascus in 1976, and we have been in the welding trade ever since: we buy direct from the makers, we know what we sell, and we serve workshops, contractors and factories in Damascus and across Syria. Fifty years in the trade is what comes with every product.
Akbik Trading is a welding supplier in Damascus, Syria, specialising in welding consumables, welding equipment, safety products and abrasives. Our experience and our network in the trade make us the supplier where a customer finds everything for welding in one place.
If you need something we don't stock, we will look for it, as long as it's welding or industrial supplies. Our greatest strength is the technical and commercial know-how built up over the years, from choosing the right product for the job to preparing and delivering the order.
We buy many of our products direct from known manufacturers, send a product's datasheet on request, and deal with every customer with the honesty the trade has known us for since 1976.
Our story

The family started in this trade with Maher Akbik's father.
- 1976 Our shop in Damascus
Maher Akbik took over the business and registered the shop in Damascus.
- Then Machines and tools
He added importing and distributing welding machines and power tools.
- Then Known brands
We have worked with well-known brands in the trade, and Maher Akbik's name is known across the trade in Syria.
- Then AKWELD
We launched our own welding-wire label, with our name on every carton.
